On 23rd March, four brightest stars of the 8th Guest Star campaign were announced:
Klaus Holeczek (Economy), Anunciada Fernández de Córdova (Diplomacy), Joseph Rakotorahalahy (Culture), John Hughes (Sports). In the beginning of March, four candidates for each of the four categories will be presented. And Maribor (European Capital of Culture) will host this year's award ceremony.The 7th Guest Star campaign brought four new stars:

Four Categories
Since expats are active in many different fields, all equally important, the Guest Star committee has separated them into the following categories:
Diplomacy
Foreign diplomats to Slovenia who successfully strenghtened the ties between the countries.
Economy
Business people who made a substantial impact to the Slovenian economy.
Culture
Acknowledged artists who chose Slovenia as a place to live and create.
Sports
Individuals who signifficantly contributed to the achievements of Slovenian teams and athleetes.
